Lighting and camera techniques played a significant role in every scene of our short film, as they had a profound impact on the overall outcome. Our main objective was to use these techniques to create the right atmosphere and convey the genre of the film without explicitly telling the audience. We began our film by combining three scenes and colliding them together to create a flashback effect. To achieve this, we employed the well-known technique of pull focus, where we changed the focus in a shot by shifting from one object to another, using a standard camera lens. Here we had used an Iso of 200 since it is a light background and an apeature f/2.8 and a shutter speed of 1/25. This helped us achieve a nice finish with the lighting and connoted that they are in a school setting.
However, in most instances, we opted for a standard
lens to create a different atmosphere and present alternative angles that deviated from our usual shots. By doing so, we aimed to prevent the audience from feeling confined to a single perspective, allowing them to experience the story from various viewpoints. Here we had used an Iso of 300 since it is a light background and an apeature f/2.8 and a shutter speed of 1/100. This helped us achieve a nice finish with the lighting and connoted that they are in a school setting and helped us bring shadows on the environment.
